“After working in Hong Kong for five years, one of my most enduring memories was walking the market streets, food stalls and open-fronted restaurants. The constant jostling and pushing of the throngs of people fighting for space in this condensed city. However, it was the cacophony of that melodious noise from the shuffling of bamboo mah-jong tiles in the backrooms as the elders played, game after game, that lingers in my remembrance of this great city.

The MAHJONG design is a harmonious pattern of concave and convex circles using the old craftsman technique of woodturning. This craft is preserved and advanced by a community of practitioners and hobbyists and has seen a revival in the artisan-based maker culture of the 21st century.”
