Designer Notes:

Bauhaus was a German art school, founded in 1913 by Walter Gropius. The style became one of the most influential currents in architecture, graphic design, typography, art, and industrial design. The style was marked by the absence of ornamentation and by harmony between the function of an object and its design. The “less is more” credo. The motivation behind the creation of the Bauhaus was the concern of the soullessness of manufacturing, and the loss of purpose of art in society. At the centre of the school’s curriculum, was the concept of seeking practicality and necessity through technical reproduction with an emphasis on craft and workmanship lost in manufacturing.

PORTRAIT’s door structure slopes gently inwards, drawing one’s eye to the inlaid material. The special construction of the door, created by CNC technology, allows the use of decorative glass, metal, and porcelain to be embedded within the substrate, and then framed. This unique framework allows the one to customize this door design with any of their own decorative materials and personal artistic objects..

An exterior/interior door available in wood or in a custom colour painted surface.
